After four decades skewering musical theater, Forbidden Broadway teased a Main Stem run with its latest edition. Thank goodness the plans fell through. While Tony-winning creator Gerard Alessandrini’s revue retains its rapier edge, the proudly unpolished production lends itself more to a jankier space like Theater555 that’s so far down 42nd Street it’s practically in the Hudson River. The chameleonic Jenny Lee Stern is the standout in the talented four-person cast, but Alessandrini’s insidery lyrics are the real star here, and they remain caustic fun.
